Herman Lotey

Director

Herman has over 10 years of professional experience working in the sports industry. An experienced leader in sport with strong networks with Government organisations, businesses and community leaders. 

 Herman was awarded the NSW Premier's Multicultural Community ''Sports Medal'' Winner 2023.

Prior to becoming the Director of Australian International Sports Organisation Herman was the Multicultural Participation Specialist at Cricket NSW. His role was to strategically influence internal and external stakeholders to drive participation opportunities and outcomes for emerging and growing multicultural communities across NSW and the ACT.

His work with Cricket NSW and Cricket Australia was recognised as it won the Australian Multicultural Marketing Media Awards 'Sports Category' for 2 years.

Herman is also the founder of the Winter Cricket Cup. The WCC is a T20 cricket tournament that runs during winter in Sydney. Over 500 players from 24 clubs take part in the competition. Herman now sits on the board of the WCC association, providing ongoing guidance with governance structure and administrative support to ensure the delivery of a professional cricket competition.

Nicholas Toscan

Director

With 25 years competing in community sport, and over 10 years working in the sports industry, Nicholas focuses on a passionate, strategic and localised approach to help your organisation achieve your goals through sport with the Australian International Sports Organisation.

Graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science from the Australian Catholic University, Nicholas has always been passionate about sport and physical activity for all members of the community.

Throughout his career to date, Nicholas has worked in a variety of environments in the sports industry. In 2012 he was selected as 1 of 12 Cricket Australia Multicultural Ambassador’s for the Commonwealth Bank Multicultural and Talent Leadership Program with his Italian heritage, which led to being apart of the inaugural Multicultural ‘Mosaic’ Program at Cricket NSW and then as a Marketing Assistant with the Sydney Thunder in BBL|03.

For the following 4 years, Nicholas was the Development Manager – Sydney North West at Cricket NSW covering the Hawkesbury, Blacktown and Hills Shire local Government Areas to help inspire the next generation of fans and participants. Nicholas worked extremely closely with a wide range of stakeholders including Cricket Clubs, Cricket Associations, Local Government and Schools and this lead to a spike in participation from 12,500 participants to 20,000 participants in the region. In addition to his Development Manager role, he was the head coach of the Thunder Nation Cup All Stars team and was seconded as the Assistant Team Manager for the Sydney Thunder in BBL|06.

Nicholas played Premier Cricket at Hawkesbury Cricket Club for 8 years and captained the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade sides. He was runner up in the ‘Captain of the Year’ award for 4th Grade in season 2017/18. He has also been a member of the Committee at Hawkesbury CC as Grants Coordinator between 2018 and 2020. Nicholas has also represented Lowland Wanderers FC and Glossodia FC in the Nepean District Soccer Football Association.

Tarik Viswasam

Programs Officer

Tarik has been working with AUSISO as a Casual Sport Programs Officer since 2019 and has worked his way up through the organisation, taking on roles which include the Junior Australian Sports Program Coordinator and now currently in the role of Programs Officer. As the Programs Officer at AUSISO, Tarik focuses on and supports the suite of programs in the ‘Program Delivery’ strategic pillar of AUSISO.

Tarik has a Diploma in Sports Development and is an exceptional coach and facilitator, who always ensures participants and stakeholders have a positive experience when participating in AUSISO programs. He is trained and accredited across all sports, which highlights his passion for learning and development.

Outside of AUSISO, Tarik is a Level 2 Cricket Australia Coach and is a keen cricketer with the University of NSW Premier Cricket Club and supports his club through coaching their A.W. Green Shield team, which he has done for the past four seasons. Tarik also coaches with Instinct Cricket, and has a real passion for ensuring aspiring cricket players reach their full potential.

Tom Vastani

Operations Manager

Tom began working with AUSISO towards the end of 2022 as a Casual Sport Programs Officer, and has come on board as the Operations Manager at AUSISO in 2023. His role focuses on the logistics of running the sports programs with a focus on equipment, staffing and program quality.

Tom graduated in 2019 with Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sports Science) from the University of Sydney. One of Tom’s key goals is increasing sports participation and providing sporting opportunities for all members of the community.

Tom had both volunteer and paid experience in sports coaching, before coming on board with AUSISO. He also brings a wealth of knowledge with his previous experience working with children as a supervisor at before and after school care.

In the community, Tom is the Men’s Club Captain at Briars Hockey Club, where he also currently coaches the U15s and plays in the Men’s 1st grade team. Tom has been coaching hockey since 2016, and has coached overseas in the USA at summer camp programs. He has also umpired hockey at multiple state championships.

Jess Avdelas

Sports Administrator

Jess has recently joined AUSISO with a dual role as Sports Administrator and Sports Programs Officer where she supports the operations team with logistical administration processes whilst also delivering fun, engaging and educational sporting programs to all clientele. 

Jess graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Management from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Jess has always been passionate about sport, human anatomy and boosting participation in communities. One of Jess’ core values is giving back to communities and making a difference and through AUSISO she is able to achieve this sense of fulfillment and reward through being a role model and source of encouragement to individuals.

Jess has coached both local club Netball as well as Netball school holiday camps. Her passions lie in Netball as she has played it for 10+ years and is currently playing a social summer competition with her friends. Jess has broad knowledge of all kinds of sports as she grew up living an active lifestyle where learning and playing sport was her favourite hobby. She enjoyed developing and enhancing her sporting abilities and skills. 

Jess brings a range of different skills to AUSISO as her employment experience is quite broad including; 5+ years of customer service experience, 1 year in media, sales and advertising, 2 years in events and fan engagement and 2 years in administration. Jess is able to transfer all those learnt skills to these roles enabling her to further develop, adapt and learn new skills. 

Paris Bamford

Sports Programs Officer - South Coast

Paris joined AUSISO as a Casual Programs Officer in 2022 and has now taken on a new role as Programs Officer for the South Coast. Paris has always had a passion for sports and is grateful for the opportunity to share this passion with others. She is an accredited coach in various sports at a community level and a Level 2 Touch Football coach. Paris believes strongly in the positive mental and physical benefits of sport and encourages her peers to continue physical activity throughout all stages of life. 

Paris has been a mentor for younger athletes at her local sporting clubs where she coaches and referees. She has coached a number of Wollongong Devils teams in the NSW State Cup and loves to see the club’s potential as new and upcoming players climb through the junior ranks. Along with Touch Football, Paris has experience in many team sports including Soccer, AFL, OzTag and Volleyball.  Her sporting experience has been a great asset to her coaching ability with many transferable skills allowing her to successfully coach numerous sports. Paris makes an effort to connect with players to make it a fun and enjoyable learning environment and appreciates that everyone is at different skill levels. She actively involves all students and encourages teamwork and sportsmanship.

Paris has been successful in a number of sports at a high level which allows her to have a wide knowledge of the technique and skills of each sport. From winning the NSW Touch Football State Cup to more recently competing at the Australian Athletics Championships this year, Paris is always searching for ways to give back to the sporting community. Her love of sport has only grown with AUSISO and she looks forward to sharing this passion with many for years to come.
